Database Administrator

We welcome applications from young, enthusiastic database administrators, for a newly created position in Citrusdal, Western Cape.

The Database Administrator will be responsible for the implementation, integrity and security of a database and the development and design of database strategies, system monitoring, maintenance and mprovement of the database performance and capacity.

Qualifications:

• A +, CompTIA

Skills and experience required:

• 2-3 years experience as a Database Administrator

• "Structured Query Language" (SQL)

• "Relational database management systems" (RDBMS)

• "Object-oriented database management systems" (OODBMS)

• XML database

Skills and experience:

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions

• Developing, managing and testing "backup" and recovery plans and processes

• Ensuring that the storage, archive, "backup" and recovery procedures are functioning correctly

• Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database

• Managing access rights and privileges

• Installing and upgrading the database server and applications

• Generating reports for use of the database as required

• Identifying database requirements through interviews with clients; and evaluating existing systems and the designing the proposed systems

• Schooling users through training and the provision of information and solving problems

Salary: R30,000.00 CTC per month
