Operations Specialist -Food Production/Health and Safety - Johannesburg & Pretoria

This multinational Food safety company is looking for a skilled and competent Operations Specialist in the Northern Region, which includes Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Key responsibilities:


  • Lead & manage Site Managers, who in turn must manage their sites in order to produce a food safe portfolio, daily.

  • Manage and achieve the Portfolio Financial Budget.

  • Attend weekly meetings with the Operations Managers to discuss all aspects on sites such budgets.

  • Enforce as sites progress reports, client feedback and team performance, aggregate hygiene reports and a hygienic & safe working environment, with compliance to all statutory safety regulations.

  • Manage individual and team performance of HR Resource, and coach & develop Site Managers.

  • Responsible for all portfolio operational activities, including operational problem solving.

  • Manage individuals and team performance and identify any areas of improvement.

  • Maintain Customer relationships, meet Customer expectations and eliminate plant damage & downtime.

  • Responsible for Growth in the Area of Responsibility.

  • Ensure that all Safety and Security policies and procedures are adhered to in all sites under portfolio.

  • Make any recommendations to improve the process and maintenance of systems.

Job Requirements:

Ideally passed Grade 12 plus a qualification in management, backed by a sound track record as a manager of a socially and culturally diverse Labour Force.


  • Previous Site Management experience.

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in the food production industry is an advantage.

  • Must have thorough knowledge of third-party audit requirements.

  • Must be able to manage the strict flow of operations and variable allocation of resources.

  • Must be strong operationally with good track record in Industrial Relations.

  • Must have strong customer relations skills.

  • Hours of work are not restricted to normal working hours - must have the ability to work additional hoursand be flexible with working hours as requested.

  • Driver’s License and own vehicle is essential.

  • Good understanding and knowledge of the cleaning industry and service orientated.

  • Logical thinker as well as strategic and organized.

  • Ability to manage and delegate tasks and duties.

  • Ability to solve problems efficiently and to be pro-active in identifying potential problems.

The successful applicant will report to the Operations Manager.
