We are looking to recruit a Work Shop Manager for our client on a Farm in the Sudan. They have a big Fleet of Machines and equipment.
Job description:
Responsible for maintenance and repair of all tractors, self-propelled machinery, vehicles and implements as well as stationary equipment such as generators, water pumps, seed treatment machines and fuel pumps.
Description of tasks and activities:
General planning for purchase of tools, workshop materials, spare parts and lubricants. Ensuring adequate stock levels of lubricants and fast moving parts.
Prepare Order Forms for spare parts , batteries, tyres, tools, lubricants and workshop materials an check that correct items are delivered in good condition.
Diagnosis of problems brought to the workshop for repairs and equipment broken down in the field and determine how to carry out necessary repair work.
Instructing Workshop Supervisor and workshop staff on repair work identifying and ordering necessary parts and if necessary request for external expertise.
Planning and supervising seasonal cleaning, overhaul, and preparation of equipment in consultation with the Fleet Manager, including adjustments (e.g. track width of tractors)
Planning periodic preventative maintenance of tractors, self-propelled equipment, implements and vehicles in consultation with Fleet Manager and ensuring that recommended service intervals are maintained as much as possible.
Planning and general supervision of periodic preventative maintenance of stationary equipment and machinery (generators, water pumps, fuel pumps, workshop tools.)
Supervising periodic preventative maintenance, ensuring that the recommended types of lubricants are used and that all necessary checks and adjustments are carried out.
Receiving new equipment and check that equipment is delivered complete and in good condition. Prepare report on delivery indicating hour/km reading and any defects as applicable.
Keeping complete equipment repair and maintenance history records, indicating all repair and maintenance work done, spare parts and lubricants used as well as replacement of batteries and tyres.
Ensure proper long-term storage of seasonally used equipment (eg keeping tyres inflated) and accessories (eg PTO shafts, seed discs, tarpaulins, top links)
Providing general guidance of workshops staff and monitoring and their evaluating their performance.
Ensuring that workshop staff work safely.
Ensuring that technical items (lubricants, tyres, batteries, spare parts, workshop materials are properly described and recorded by the stores).
Reporting:
Preparing weekly report (reporting period Sunday – Saturday) on:
List of equipment and machinery that is not operational as at the end of the period, specify the cause(s) (breakdown, under repair/ awaiting spare parts, etc), actions being taken and progress of repair works.
Breakdowns and major repairs of machinery and equipment during the week
Progress of seasonal and preparation of overhaul of machinery and equipment
New machinery and equipment delivered during the period
Other relevant matters (eg delays in parts/material delivery , HR)
Preparing occasional reports as required
Working Hours:
Normal working hours are from 7 am to 5 pm.
During the busy seasons (planting, harvesting) working hours are flexible and depend on requirements for urgent repair and maintenance work. As required workshop staff may have to work in shifts.
Experience required:
Must have experience with Agriculture equipment, machinery and farms.
Experience working in Africa is necessary.
Must be very hands on since it will be necessary to teach and solve problems from time to time.
Language ability:
English
Arabic would be beneficial
Salary:
5000 Euros per month
Accommodation:
They have very good accommodation for staff, kitchen, and living room with television, Wi-Fi and sofas.
